My Story
G’day, I’m Rich. I’m a strategic designer with a bent for positive social impact.
I help businesses transform, communities thrive and customers make progress through product and service innovation.
My work has led me to business improvement projects for everyone from Google to government – discovering the unmet needs of customers and communities and aligning organisations around them.
My skill-set is a unique one. Having worked as a researcher, strategist, advertising creative, entrepreneur, product and service designer, and stand-up comedian, I have a knack for running engaging and impactful projects that drive real-world progress.
I’m always happy to shoot the breeze and discuss what you’re trying to achieve, so get in touch.
My PRINCIPLES
It’s a big and complex world we’re working in, so I guide my work and my thinking with four key principles:
1. Design less, not more
We don’t need new, we need better. By focusing on simplifying what we already have and leveraging what already works, we can reduce complexity and live more sustainably.
2. People don’t resist change, they resist being changed
Change by force doesn’t work. By understanding people’s intrinsic motivations, we can design compelling products and platforms for change.
3. We are more capable together than alone
Complex problems cannot be solved by a lone genius. By working together and leveraging our diversity, we become greater than the sum of our parts.
4. Everything is connected
Nothing happens in isolation. By adopting a systems lens and seeing the interdependencies in the world around us, we can practice more considered and sustainable design.
